Legal Awareness Socialization for Sei Rengas Permata Sub-District Medan Area Communities

This community service theme is Restorative Justice which aims to reduce the increasing number of crime rates. Another goal is that more and more people are aware and understand about the juvenile justice system, while also implementing preventive measures to reduce crime rates, starting from the family to the surrounding environment. This service is carried out because there are many crime cases involving children ranging from abuse to violence against children, there are even many types of crimes involving children, whether the child is the victim or the child is the perpetrator. This socialization was in the form of a lecture, with the result of the activity increasing the legal knowledge of the residents of the Sei Rengas Permata sub-district, Medan Area District where the role of the family is very important to become a knot and produce a young generation who are not in contact with the law.

Socialization 0f The Importance of Scientific Works for The Development Of Knowledge

Students generally cannot be separated from scientific work. Usually, this scientific work is taught in universities and entered into courses in the learning process. Even so, it seems that students are still unaware of the importance of scientific writing for developing knowledge. This service aims to provide an overview of the importance of these activities by using the lecture method. This activity succeeded in motivating students to make scientific work. It can be concluded that activities like this can build and encourage students to be more active in developing knowledge.

Community Socialization and Education on The Use of Generic Drug and Traded Drugs In Merdeka Binjai Field

Drug preparations circulating in the community are available in generic and trademark forms. Currently, there are still people who are confused about choosing between generic drugs and commercial drugs. Each of them has their own opinion, some consider both to be the same, and some are anti to generic drugs because they think they are not "effective." This is due to the public's lack of information about generic and commercial drugs. A generic drug is a pharmaceutical preparation that meets pharmacopoeial requirements and goes through a manufacturing process according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) also oversees these general standards. The lack of public knowledge about the differences between generic and commercial drugs is one factor that needs further outreach and education to the public. Therefore, on December 3, 2022, a team of lecturers from Tjut Nyak Dhien University conducted socialization and education activities for the public with the theme "Counseling on the Use of Generic and Commercial Medicines" with the aim that the public can obtain information and knowledge about the differences between generic drugs and commercial drugs.

Coffee Shop and Barista Management Training for Youth In the TJ. Rejo, Medan Sunggal District

Nowadays, coffee-themed café businesses are popping up everywhere. This happens because of the habits of the community, especially young people who like to gather with friends in coffee shops/cafés. This habit of young people can be used as an opportunity for entrepreneurship. For this reason, this community service aims to provide knowledge to young people, especially those in the Tj. Rejo Medan Sunggal to take part in training on managing café and Barista management. This is done to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in young people. The results showed that the youth who participated in this training were enthusiastic and interested in starting a café business where business opportunities for this activity are still wide open. Moreover, this training has opened insights for young people to become entrepreneurs.

Socialization How to Make Natural Pesticides In South Namu Ukur Sub-District, Langkat Regency, In 2022

Natural pesticides have many advantages over conventional pesticides. Using natural pesticides is safer, economical, and friendly to the environment. Namu Ukur Selatan Village is a village that has income in the field of crops because gardens and rice fields surround its location. The use of natural pesticides is very suitable for the village. Lack of understanding of how to make natural pesticides is an obstacle faced. One of the steps taken is by socializing with demonstration and evaluation methods. The main ingredients used as pesticides are garlic and betel leaves. The evaluation results showed that the community understood how to make natural pesticides well. The conclusion of this activity is to provide information and knowledge about the other benefits of garlic and betel leaf as natural pesticides. The public can save on the cost of buying conventional pesticides and reduce their use which can hurt the environment and natural resources.

Prevent and Avoid Diabetes Mellitus with A Healthy Lifestyle

The purpose of the community service activities carried out at Merdeka Square in Binjai City is to educate the public about Diabetes Mellitus, including ways to prevent and avoid this disease with a healthy lifestyle so that they can maintain a good quality of life. Education is carried out verbally and non-verbally by distributing brochures containing relevant information, counselling, questions, and answers. At the final stage of the session, a free blood sugar check was carried out to see an overview of the blood sugar levels of the people attending this activity. Data on blood sugar levels, when obtained, can be information for the public whether there is potential for diabetes or not. The results of tests conducted on participants in this activity showed that the average blood sugar level was normal. In addition to this data, the people who attended also received information about managing a good diet, exercising regularly, and implementing self-care to improve their quality of life.

Prevent and Avoid Hypertension with A Healthy Lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is a lifestyle that takes into account certain factors that affect health, including food and exercise. The wrong diet is one of the risk factors that increase hypertension. Implementing a healthy lifestyle can reduce blood pressure, prevent or delay the occurrence of hypertension, increase the effectiveness of anti-hypertensive drugs and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Community service activities are implemented by outreach to the community, which aims to provide knowledge about hypertension so that the community can make efforts to prevent hypertension. The results of health education to the public about hypertension have been carried out to increase participants' knowledge of hypertension, regulate diet and lifestyle better, and know the signs and symptoms and how to prevent hypertension.

Be Aware and Recognize the Use of Antibiotics: Outreach to the Community in the Field of Binjai City

The use of antibiotics indiscriminately and in the wrong dosage can lead to the failure of the medical therapy. This is due to the occurrence of resistance to antibiotics. When the response to treatment is slow to the point of failure treatment, this can lead to long-term infectious disease. This activity aims to understand and increase awareness among the people living around Merdeka Square in Binjai City about the correct and appropriate use of antibiotics. This activity is carried out by providing counseling and education directly to the public as well as distributing brochures related to information about antibiotics. The result of this outreach activity to the community is increasing public knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of knowledge, primarily related to the correct use of antibiotics. Based on this, it is estimated that around 90% of the public who are given counseling use antibiotics at the wrong dosage, and around 80% of the public obtain antibiotics without using a doctor’s prescription.
